sUPERYACHT DECKHAND TRAINING

Working on Superyachts certainly has its attractions!  Traveling around the world, enjoying great weather, working on outstanding boats, in a glamourous industry and usually for a good salary and food and board too.  That said, it is hard work too and you need some basic qualifications before you will even be considered to step on board.

We spend a lot of time visiting various yachts throughout the world and have put together a 'bucket list' of qualifications we can provide directly, or through our chosen partners, to enhance your ability to get that dream job.

As Crew you will be required to take guests to and from the shore, usually onboard a tender, provide safety boat cover, tow and manoeuvre powerboats and PWCs when required.

Some qualifications are a legal requirement and some will help to set you apart from others and give you a better chance of landing your dream job.

COURSE DESCRIPTION

It can take several weeks of hard effort to secure a job and if you have the edge over other candidates with the extras you will be short-listed and possibly reduce this to days.

We have put together 3 deck crew training packages.  Our 3 tier packages, combined with the additional STCW course save you time and money, and are aimed to give you the confidence and the knowledge you need to start your Deck Hand Career.

training courses

Powerboat Level 2

provides the skills and background knowledge needed to drive a powerboat self-sufficiently and is the basis of the International Certificate of Competence.

PWC Proficiency

teaches the basics of riding a PWC quickly confidently and safely, the rules of the road, how to avoid a collision, slow speed manoeuvres, high-speed control, basic maintenance and what to do in case of an emergency.  Participants aim to leave with a recognised RYA qualification which is a pre requisite for the PWC instructor course required by many superyachts.

SRC  - RYA Short Range Certificate

SRC marine radio course is a legal requirement for anyone wishing to use a marine VHF radio with digital selective calling onboard a British vessel fitted with radio equipment. The course will cover issuing and responding to Mayday alerts as well as other vital information required for safe on board operations.

Tender Operator

A natural progression from Powerboat level 2 the Tender Operators course arms you with understanding of the techniques required to act as tender, carrying passengers to and from shore by day and night.
